Retreat Update

Hello Ladies!

It’s almost here! Our special weekend is upon us. As we see to the last minute details and prepare for your arrival, our excitement is growing! We hope yours is too!

Of course, as a mom of two girls with special needs, I know that it’s very likely that “overwhelmed” might better describe you as you prepare for your departure. Leaving typical kids can be hard, but leaving our special ones can seem almost impossible. If you’re like me, there are lots of lists to be made and instructions to be given. Maybe even meals to be prepared. Not to mention, you’ve still got to pack your stuff.

If you start to doubt your decision in the craziest time of trying to get your ducks in a row this week, hear me now, IT’S WORTH IT! Don’t give up! Make those plans! Pack your bags! Kiss them goodbye! And head to By The Brook!

See ya Friday,

Lori Chatman
By the Brook Retreat Staff

Hope to see you next week!

Retreat Update

We have had some moms ask if they can come to the retreat even if they can only come on Friday or on Saturday. The answer is YES!  We would love for you to come even if you can only come for one of the days.  Just mail in your registration form along with $12 and mark which day you can come, either Friday or Saturday.

We also have some scholarships available for those needing them. Just contact Becky Davidson at bdavidson@risingaboveministries.org  for more information.

We are needing registrations received by June 15th. If you are wanting to come to the retreat but can’t get your registration information to us by the 15th just email Becky Davidson at the above address to let us know.

Are you…

Are you stressed…overwhelmed…exhausted…overworked?
Being the mom of a child with special needs can cause you to feel all these things at times. This seems especially true in the summer. School is out, activities for families with children with special needs are few are far between and we moms often feel even more isolated during this time.
If you have not already signed up for the By the Brook retreat we hope you will do so.
Join with other moms just like you for a weekend of pampering, encouragement and hope. There are still spaces open and there are scholarships available for those who need them. Come join us  on June 26-27 and be refreshed, restored and renewed!  Registration forms can be downloaded at www.risingaboveministries.org

Worship at the retreat will be lead by Zamar.

Zamar is a worship band comprised of believers from the River Community Church in Cookeville, Tennessee.
Their passion is to glorify the Lord using by their God-given talents to worship Him through music and lead others to do so as well.
The band’s name comes for Psalms 108:1 which says, “My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing, I will sing praises, even with my soul.”
The Hebrew word for “sing praises” in this verse is zamar – to celebrate in song and music, to give praise, to sing forth praises.
Band members include Vernon Woodcock, Meredith Vaughn, Ken Bruce, Jill Horner, Erin Horner, Tom Sandlin, Lori Chatman, Lorie Judd, and Jeremy Cook.

We hope you are making plans to join us for the By the Brook retreat for moms of children with special needs.  We want to let you know about some of the exciting things we have planned for the retreat.

We know many of us due to the needs of our children will never have the opportunity to get away and be pampered so our hope and goal is to provide a time for you to feel refreshed, restored and renewed.

On Friday afternoon beginning at 3:00 central time enjoy a complimentary “Spa” experience including chair massages, nail services and facials. You will also be able to visit the “Flip Flop Shop” and create a unique pair of flip flops as well peruse other specialty shops.  During this time appetizers will be served to you as you visit the different “Spa” locations.

At 6:00 that evening you will be treated to a sit-down catered meal where dinner will be served to you. After dinner we will have entertainment designed just for moms like us followed by a time of worship and encouragement.

We will close out the evening with “Coffee Talk” where we will have the opportunity to visit and share with other moms in a small group setting.

Breakfast will be available starting at 8:30 am on Saturday morning for the early risers. The “Spa” will also be open at this time as well.

Worship will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday. For those moms who need some much needed and deserved rest, please feel free to sleep in and join us at 10:00.

We will be sharing messages of hope, encouragement, and inspiration on Saturday along with having some moms share their testimonies. We will also have powerful times of worship and a time for you to get to visit with other moms like you!

Lunch will be served on site and our plan is to close out the day by 3:00 pm.

There will be door prizes given out all weekend and other special surprises along the way. It is going to be an awesome weekend that you don’t want to miss!

In order for us to make preparations we will need all registrations received no later than June 15. We hope to see you there
